Andrew Antone was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His mother remembers him singing from the age of two in front of anyone who would listen. When he was seven years old, Andrew sang The Lion Sleeps Tonight while playing the guitar in a talent showcase for an audience of three hundred people. Continuing to perform in numerous venues over the next few years, Andrew also learned to play several musical instruments including saxophone, guitar, drums, and piano.
At the age of thirteen, Andrew recorded a demo album entitled, Then You Look At Me in a professional studio. This CD, consisting of ten contemporary-pop tracks, gave the music industry the first taste of Andrew Antone.
Andrew sang in school choirs from grades three through nine. After moving to California, he began focusing rigorously on his vocal ability. Continuing to train his voice privately, he expanded his eclectic range of music to pop, rock, country, and classical. At the age of fifteen, Andrew recorded his first single, I Can't Help Falling In Love (2003), which led to his first national TV appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In addition to singing, Andrew trained as a stage actor in community and school theatre. He acted and served on technical crews in both dramatic and musical productions. In the ten plus years Andrew has performed in theatre, some of his favorite shows include Carnival, Copacabana, and Grandparents for Arnie. Andrew enjoys performing in musicals, comedies and dramas both onstage and in front of the camera; however, singing is Andrew's passion!
Without letting anything stand in his way, Andrew continued to expand his horizons. In 2003 he had his first opportunity to delve into the film industry. Andrew was a casting intern for John Jackson, C.S.A, for the movie Sideways (Fox Searchlight Pictures). He also appeared in the movie as a featured extra.
Coinciding with high school graduation in 2005 Andrew began focusing all of his energy on his music career. The result was a brand new album, I Will Love Again (2006), featuring his powerful and sophisticated adult voice. Ringing true to Andrew's thirst for perfection and knowledge, this album also marked his debut as a producer. Every song was chosen, arranged and produced by Andrew Antone. "Being in complete creative control was truly an enriching experience," recalled Andrew, "it allowed me to focus on what was most important to me: the soul and passion behind the music."
Unfortunately, time was not on Andrew's side. Almost immediately after the release of I Will Love Again, Andrew was forced to make the difficult decision to step back from the music scene to concentrate on his education. As a full time University student, Andrew's schedule left him little time to record and promote his music. In retrospect, however, the decision couldn't have come at a better period in Andrew's life, for this time away from the industry allowed Andrew to grow intellectually, physically, spiritually and emotionally.
Without missing a beat, in early 2007 while still in University, Andrew began contemplating ideas for his next album. In choosing a direction for the project, all paths led to originality. Instead of hunting for prewritten material to record, Andrew has decided to create it all from scratch. "After finishing the first track, it just felt so right," Andrew divulged, "every word is so personal and real, nothing I have ever done before compares."
Also during this period of study, development and change, Andrew orchestrated a miraculous self-transformation. Shedding the weight that had plagued him for more than a decade, without surgeries or shortcuts, Andrew successfully lost, and has kept off, over 110lbs leaving him with a handsome, chiseled, masculine and mature, grown-up physic.
In the spring of 2009, Andrew reached a milestone in his life - he earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business. After a lifetime of placing education as the top priority, Andrew is now free to dedicate all of his energy to his music. Writing for the next album is nearly complete and Andrew is currently in preparation for the return to the recording studio in the spring of 2010 to work on his first all-original album. Details on the release are still forthcoming, however, the world is in for an experience they will never forget!
